THE 300 or so people of Winsford have been finding out 'Who's Who and What's What' in a leaflet spearheaded by the parish council.

The new initiative to promote local services to local people was launched with funding from the Community Chest, West Somerset District Council's rural and regenerating project and the parish council's own resources.

Villagers were offered the opportunity to list, free of charge, any service or product they provide and each household in Winsford received a copy of the glossy leaflet.

Already, doll's house furniture maker Eileen Richley has picked up an order from another resident and Charles Stanbury has recruited two local beaters for his pheasant shoot.

Services promoted are as diverse as bagpipe making, ironing, holiday accommodation, jam making and a local taxi service.

The easy-to-read directory contains about 50 different services and products plus local information and contact points for organisations.
