PEOPLE in and around East Quantoxhead have raised hundreds of pounds for three charities.

In December, £700 was presented Musgrove Park Hospital's haematology and oncology unit, and over £800 was also raised for Children's Hospice South West and Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

The fundraising drive for the hospital unit began in the autumn with a coffee morning and evening at Brian and Linda Ingram's home in Combwich, which raised £538.

It ended with a film show in East Quantoxhead Village Hall, given by Peter Sealy on 'Wildlife on the Quantocks'. About 50 people attended and £162 was raised.

Also in December, a Christmas stall and grand draw was held at St Audries Bay Holiday Club, by kind permission of Mark and Mary Randle. This raised £866.40 which was shared equally between the children's hospice and the air ambulance.

On March 8, a concert given by Ann Breen will be held to raise funds for the children's hospice and a cystic fibrosis charity.

l Older people and children were given Christmas treats when 26 senior citizens sat down to Christmas dinner in East Quantoxhead Village Hall with a sing-along afterwards and, on another day, the children had a Christmas party.
