PACKED houses roared for more as the newly formed Watchet Community Choir and Drama Group sang The Beatles’ classic hit All You Need Is Love at the end of their vibrant production of Cinderella Rockerfella.

This unique musical play placed Cinderella in a hippy commune in 1967 during the “Summer of Love”.

Audiences cheered and danced in their seats, enthusiastically waving paper flowers as the choir and cast sang hit after hit from the swinging ’60s.

“We could have sold at least another hundred tickets,” said Pete Stevenson (otherwise known as Pete the Poet) who wrote, produced and co-directed the show.

“It was great to involve the whole community and we will definitely put on more productions in the future,” he said.

The show was put together in just seven weeks, with several of the cast never having acted before, and the production team involved local artists who designed the set and costumes.

Musical director Graham Kennedy put together a fine band of local musicians who recreated the pulsating rhythms of flower flower power in the four performances.

The group will meet soon to plan its next show.
