A MAIN road through an Exmoor village is to be closed for a fortnight while Wessex Water carries out essential sewer rehabilitation work.

The Wootton Courtenay project will start on Monday, April 27, and should be completed by Friday, May 8.

The work will be carried out using ‘no-dig’ techniques, which are quicker and less intrusive than replacing the pipe in a conventional manner, and some manhole access covers will also be replaced.

The project will progress west to east from All Saints’ Church to Brockwell Lane, before the completion of work on the junction of Fairgarden Road and Ranscombe Road.

A diversion will be signposted via Cowbridge, Dunster, and Tivington.

Residents’ access will be maintained although with occasional delays, and emergency vehicles will be able to drive through.
