TWO teenaged friends were killed in an horrific accident on the B3190 between Five Bells and Watchet last Thursday evening. Michael Foster, aged 18, of Woodland Road, Watchet, and Jamie Lee Pitman, aged 19, of Pillory Cottages, Old Cleeve, died instantly when the Peugeot 205 being driven by Mr Foster collided with a Mitsubishi Shogun. The driver of the Shogun, believed to a local woman travelling with her young son, did not suffer serious injuries. Both boys were former students of the West Somerset Community College in Minehead and Mr Pitman had three brothers, Nathan, Janson and Oliver and one sister, Adele. Police were called to the scene of Thursday's crash at 9.20pm and collision investigators worked through the night to try and establish the cause of the accident. The teenagers were believed to have been travelling towards Watchet when their car hit a roadside verge before colliding with the Shogun. Both young men were pronounced dead at the scene. The road was eventually re-opened at 3am. Details of Mr Foster's funeral are not known, but Mr Pitman's funeral service will take place at Taunton Deane Crematorium next Wednesday (August 29) at 2pm. His parents, Julie and Jim, have requested flowers or donations to the Blue Cross animal charity, which can be made via the funeral director Hedley Price, of Mart Road, Minehead. In a death notice placed in this week's Free Press, the family said Mr Pitman was a "loving son" and was "sadly missed by all of his family and many friends". Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash and anyone with information is asked to contact the collision investigation unit on 0845 4567000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
