WILLITON Parish Council has suffered a double blow with the sudden resignation of vice chairman Eddie May and Cllr Phivos Vassiliou.
Mr May, who has resigned for personal reasons, was keen to stress that his decision had nothing to do with the recent harassment allegations involving retired Major Michael Ham.
He has also decided to relieve himself of responsibilities within the parish apart from his work with the Red Cross.
Mr May's step-down as parish councillor follows his resignation as councillor for West Somerset District Council last autumn.
Unless the remaining ten Williton parish councillors call an election, the council will be able co-opt two new members at their next meeting.
Mr Vassiliou said he had been promoted at the Hydrographic Office in Taunton and felt it was unfair of him to represent the parish when he now had added commitments.
He said his departure would enable the council to appoint a replacement who could give 100 per cent effort to the parish.
He thanked the councillors for all their help and friendship.
l A special meeting will be held in the Council Chamber on Monday night to discuss updating the by-laws.
This follows complaints from residents near the Memorial Ground that golf balls were entering their gardens even though the game was banned.
