TWO candidates are standing in next Thursday's by-election to represent Aville Vale ward on West Somerset District Council.

Voters can choose between Independent Sydney Pinder, of Wootton Courtenay, and Conservative Roger Webber, of Wheddon Cross.

The election was called following the resignation of independent councillor George Burnell on May 12.

Three polling stations will be open - Timberscombe and Wootton Courtenay village halls and the Moorland Hall, Wheddon Cross.

They will be open from 8am to 9pm with the count immediately afterward at Timberscombe Village Hall.
