TOWNS and villages across West Somerset stood silent and honoured the lives lost in a century of conflicts at Remembrance services and tributes across the district this week.

Even children, including those at Minehead's Acorns Nursery (pictured), made their own poppy wreath before laying it at the town's war memorial in a mark of respect.
