MINEHEAD residents were shocked to find travellers had made camp in the town hospital’s car park this morning (Thursday, June 20).

Minehead X-ray department reopens as new equipment ready sooner than expectedResidents took to social media to express alarm over the encampment, which is understood to have included around ten vehicles, with one person describing the move as “selfish.”
However, the travellers appear to have been moved on without incident after being spoken to by police officers.
Issuing a brief statement a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said “We received a call at about 7.10am this morning (Thursday, June 20) in relation to an unauthorised encampment on hospital grounds in Minehead.
“We attended and engaged with hospital staff and those people involved in the encampment, who said they planned to move on shortly, which they did later in the morning.”
