Residents and visitors can now use a new electric vehicle charging point in Wiveliscombe.
Wivey Action on Climate and Environment first proposed the project in 2017 and district councillor Dave Mansell and town councillor Julie Mitchell are now managing it.
Wiveliscombe Community Centre has allowed a connection to its electricity supply.
Mr Mansell said: “It’s taken time to get the charging point installed due to a number of challenges, including delays due to the pandemic. So we are pleased it’s finally available for use. Electric is the future for all cars and the sooner we can transition the better.”
Julie Mitchell thanked funders, saying: “We are grateful to Brendon Energy, Somerset West and Taunton Council and Wiveliscombe Town Council for grants that have paid for the charging point. It can charge two cars at the same time and provide 11 kW of power to each one.”
The charging point can be accessed via Zap Map and is part of the Pod Point network.
