SIR — May I draw your readers' attention to the unpleasant state of the shop in The Parade, Minehead, that was last occupied by Threshers Wine?
It has been totally neglected since its closure two or more years ago and is now used as a flyposting site and has old fittings and a pile of builder's rubble inside; additionally, there is a mound of post, free papers and junk mail behind the door.
It would be so easy, and not too expensive, to cover the windows with attractive boarding of the type often seen in shops or on housing development sites.
The premises are an eyesore in the middle of Minehead, with the owners and agents apparently unwilling to act, and the local authorities presumably unwilling or unable to act, but one feels there must be some powers available to them.

If any of your readers share our thinking, will they please join us by writing themselves to Minehead Town Council and West Somerset Council, and also to the two agents with boards attached to the shop - they are BTCommercial of 166 Bowes Road, New Southgate, London N11 2JG, and Williams, Gunter, Hardwick of Clifton Heights, Triangle West, Clifton, Bristol BS8 1EJ.
