SIR — At last the dead tree on the Esplanade in Watchet has been replaced.

It has taken time and the main hold-up was sourcing the replacement because the Olympics have had so many and the price has soared.

Also it has to be a special oak that does not shed its leaves.

It goes to show that when people work together things do happen, and I would like to thank the following people for their perseverance.

Firstly, town clerk Sarah Reed for putting up with me moaning that nothing was being done and constantly contacting the district council to remind it.

Secondly, Steve Watts of the district council and his team for managing to source the tree, the digger and the men to plant it.

Last but not least, Bob Hornby, our local electrician, for giving his time free, which I might add he does for many projects in the town.
