IT was a night to remember for students at West Somerset College last Friday when they arrived in style, dined, danced and enjoyed themselves at the annual prom.

A total of 131 students from year 11, all aged 15 to 16, attended the event at The Beach Hotel in Minehead.

The evening kicked off with a procession at 6pm, as students arrived in everything from sports and classic cars to tractors and a lorry.

They paraded in the vehicles at Minehead Eye car park, watched by scores of onlookers including family, friends, current and past students.

They then went up a red carpet outside the hotel, to go in and enjoy a two-course sit-down meal, plus a photo booth with the use of props and unlimited photos, a candy cart which included unlimited pick ‘n’ mix, and a small awards ceremony.

Students Josh Poulton and Mollie Floyd-Green were crowned prom king and queen.

To finish the evening there was a disco, and students danced the night away.

“The overall event was wonderful and the students did not want it to end,” a spokesman for the college said.

“The atmosphere was incredibly relaxed and there were so many positive comments. It will definitely be a night to remember!”

The spokesman praised the staff and food at the hotel, and said “a huge thank you” too to members of Foxes Academy, who helped set up the event and distribute 150 meals, including to college staff who attended the prom.
