Minehead has already suffered enough with bus schedules cut to a bare minimum, especially the town bus and loss of the 18 bus which was so necessary for getting to Musgrove Park Hospital.
But to add insult to injury, if you are waiting at the Silvermead bus stop in Alcombe you cannot use the shelter due to the fact that when standing inside, two huge posters block the view either way; therefore you have to stand outside the shelter no matter what the weather.
I learned the hard way by standing inside, only to see the bus go sailing by. I presume the buses are not required to stop unless someone is getting off.
A second issue I have is that although there are assisted living homes either side of the road by the bus stop, there is no proper crossing,. Many older people have trouble crossing due to the heavy traffic, sometimes even causing them to miss the bus.
Could there be some way of adding a crossing at that point?
My other issue concerns the bus stop opposite the Co-Op in Alcombe. The bus shelter is quite far away from where the bus stops, and in winter, if you stand inside the shelter, again you cannot see the bus coming, and if you are not exactly at the stop when the bus arrives to hold out your hand, you have missed it again.
Please can someone take up with these complaints - surely I am not the only one who has noticed these ridiculous inconveniences.
Jean Steimer, Alcombe.
