SIR — The Watchet War Memorial Ground Pavilion's facelift continued last week with the restoration of the tribute sign 'In Memoriam 1914-1918' above the entrance to the building which was officially opened on June 29, 1929, many local organisations having contributed to the original building fund.

A huge crowd gathered on the ground that day to honour those from Watchet who died in World War One.

It was all part of the War Memorial Ground Committee's efforts to get the building in good shape to commemorate 100 years since the start of that brutal war, which will be 2014, and to bring it to the attention of many local people who are not aware that the pavilion is a War Memorial.

The front of the pavilion has been painted and next year we hope to complete the back and sides if funds allow. Anyone wishing to contribute to this project would be very welcome; please contact me on 01984 631660.

Meanwhile, on behalf of the committee, I would like to thank Martyn Ketchen for supplying the wood for the sign, Darren Scot for the sign writing and Robin Williams for the sign fixing. Thanks also to Paul Crone for a great decorating job and Watchet Glass for supplying new windows which will be installed in the spring.

Jim Nicholas,

Chairman,

War Memorial Ground Committee,

Watchet.
