Unique cancer fund-raising idea takes off in Stogursey after partner's life is savedThe high water levels prompted the Environment Agency to issue a flood alert for the West Somerset Streams catchment, covering the Rivers Aller and Washford, and the Hawkcombe, Monksilver and Doniford Streams and tributaries.
The agency warned that the threat of further showers meant the risk of flooding over the coming days remains real. In guidance last updated on Sunday evening, November 6, they said:
"Further showers are forecast, therefore flooding remains possible over the next few days. We have checked weed screens in the area. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels closely."
It comes after heavy rainfall associated with Storm Ciaran caused localised flooding in parts of Somerset, and left a number of waterways swollen, threatening to burst their banks.
