SIR — In reply to Mr Dyer's letter (Your Letters July 27) about his grandson falling in dog excrement on Watchet Memorial Ground on July 19, just be thankful that your grandson fell in the excrement and not on to the three smashed lager bottles I found upturned in the grass around the concrete shed on July 18.

I spent a considerable time picking up the bottles.

Even if the dog walkers of Watchet were banned, I'm sorry Mr Dyer - you are still not going to be able to sit on the grass and allow your grandson to run around without worrying.
