ONE of only six league games to survive the weather on Saturday saw Williton return to winning ways away to Middlezoy Reserves.

The Division Five leaders had suffered a shock first defeat of the season the previous week but bounced back to sink third-placed Middlezoy 6-2.

They started brightly and went 2-0 up through Pete Smith and Michael Auton then sat back and defended their lead until half-time.

Middlezoy got back into the game with two well-taken penalties and that spurred Williton into action.

Richard Johnson put them back in the lead and a hat-trick from Matt Werbitzky saw them run out comfortable winners.

In the same division, Porlock Reserves went down 5-1 away to second-placed Bridgwater Foresters.

Porlock first team's up and down season continued with a shock 4-1 home defeat by Blackbrook in Division Two.

They took the early initiative and went ahead when Paul Long latched onto a through ball from Steve Plenty and rounded the keeper to finish with ease.

But the lead was short-lived as a mistake by the home side let in Blackbrook for the equaliser, and the visitors then took a half-time lead with a header from ten yards out.

Porlock started the second half looking for an equaliser but they were caught on the break and when a Blackbrook forward was brought down as he was about to shoot, the referee had no option but send off P Matravers.

With ten men, Porlock battled bravely but even though they had the lion's share of the play they were caught out twice as they tired towards the end and conceded two more goals.

Porlock: M Lovell, D Healey, S Arnold, P Matravers, G Howard, S Plenty, D Sowden, J Harris, T Howard, P Long, R Rich, subs R Southey, I Cape, L Taylor (all used).

In Division One, Alcombe Rovers are still looking for their first point of the season after crashing 6-1 away to Redgate.

l Saturday's 15 cancelled matches have taken the fixture backlog to more than 160.

The league this week urged teams who call off matches on their pitch not to tell their players before they have contacted the fixture secretary, as it may be possible to arrange an alternative fixture for that day.
