ALMOST half a million pounds is still available to help good, community-based ideas come to life within the Tarka Country Trust area.

Already more than £100,000 has been given to individuals over the last six months to help a range of community projects become reality.

These have included schemes such as a village garden, the restoration of an orchard, the production of a village video and the formation of an organic, food-growing co-operative.

Some £450,000 is still available to fund similar schemes through the Tarka Country Millennium Awards.

Forthcoming projects might include a Golden Jubilee celebration, although applicants will have to move fast as it will take around three months for a funding bid to be processed.
