I’m sure that we’re all grateful for any money that can be made available to help promote Minehead and boost tourism (£500,000 boost for Minehead tourism (Free Press July 21), but isn’t it a shame that part of this money is to be used to create a “hospitality and tourism academy” when the excellent hospitality facilities at West Somerset College were so recently closed?

And the fact that apparently “young people leaving school and college lacked essential employability skills” is surely an issue that should be the responsibility of the college and, if true, urgently addressed by them.
