MINEHEAD Red Cross volunteers have been sorting through items donated for people who lost their possessions in the Grenfell Tower fire.
Due to the generosity of the public, there are now many more donations for the victims than is needed – at least 40000 boxes, enough to fill three football pitches!
The British Red Cross has been sorting the donations to separate new items, which are protected for the Grenfell community.
All saleable items are then sold through Red Cross charity shops to raise money specifically to help the victims of the disaster.
People can go into the shop in The Avenue and look for items labelled ‘London Fire’.
Kaye Peach, Red Cross manage, said: “Grenfell stock has now reached Minehead and every penny from these sales will benefit the people who have been so badly affected affected by this disaster.
“The people of West Somerset have always been so supportive when we have an appeal.”
