DUNSTER First School children came back to an exciting start after half-term – Superhero Safety Day.

All the staff revealed their ‘true identities’ from Superwoman and Wonderwoman to Batman and Robin – even headteacher Naomi Philp was Batwoman!

The children were encouraged to dress as their favourite superhero. They could be a classic superhero, the person they most admire who is a hero to them, even a superfood, or they could be creative and invent their own super power!

There was a school full of superheroes – Wondergirls and Superboys, Sherlock Holmes and Florence Nightingale, Supersloth and vets, firemen and RNLI lifesaving crew.

During the morning, the whole school had a special visit from Spiderman himself, who dropped in to share his safety messages with the children.

The school was also joined by PCO Linda Brooks, who was invited as a ‘real life’ super hero – a police officer.

Linda took time out of her busy schedule to show the children the police car and to talk to them about keeping themselves and others safe.

Mrs Philp said: “The children had so much fun. Learning should be memorable, exciting and engaging and at Dunster we are determined that school life should be all of those things.

“The important safety messages that we discuss will now be rooted in children’s minds for us to build upon, and above all we want our children to be safe – because they are all super!”

Mrs Philp said she wished to thank Linda who was “really brilliant” in sharing the safety messages – and Spiderman for making the day extra special.
