TWO new members, a birthday party, raffle and coffee morning

plus announcements in the rain – all went towards making Dementia Awareness Week a success in the Watchet district.

Both the Driftwood Café and Knights Templar School joined the growing army of organisations and businesses supporting Watchet area Dementia Action Alliance (DAA).

Town crier Dave Milton launched the week’s celebrations for the second anniversary of the Forget Me Not Café and the Watchet area DAA by ringing his ceremonial bell on a wet and windy Esplanade.

He then entertained café members at the Sanctuary with songs, both traditional and of his own.

Two days later, Watchet DAA lead Margaret Tatham visited both the Driftwood Café and Knights Templar School to present membership certificates, as well as talking to year four children about dementia.

The week culminated with a grand coffee morning and sale at the Methodist Schoolrooms which raised over £300.

Meanwhile, manager Shane and his staff at the Swain Street Co-Op ran a very successful raffle.
