A MINEHEAD street was sealed off by police for five hours after a man was seen allegedly firing an air weapon on Wednesday afternoon. Local officers and a firearms squad descended on Widgeon Close, just off Seaward Way, after neighbours raised the alarm shortly before 4pm. The man went into a house in Widgeon Close and some time later two men and two women were arrested on suspicion of firearms offences. Two air weapons were seized from the house. A police spokesman said no-one was injured in the incident and people living nearby did not have to be evacuated from the area. A 37-year-old local man was later released on police bail pending further enquiries in relation to possession of a loaded weapon in a public place. A 41-year-old man and two women. aged 50 and 51. were released without charge. Officers remained on the scene, carrying out investigations, including a search of the house, until 9pm when the cordon was removed from the area.
