FOLLOWING the success of the phase-one footpath between Dunster Beach and Blue Anchor, opened two years ago, the next section of the Steam Coast Trail – inking Washford and Dragon’s Cross – will be officially open to the public tomorrow (Sunday).

Kully on mission to restore reputation of Minehead fish and chipsThe 1.1km multi-use path will allow walkers, runners. skaters, dog-walkers, mobility scooters and wheelchair users to enjoy the countryside and train-spot alongside the West Somerset Railway line, away from the dangers of the busy A39 road.
Steam Coast Trail project officer Sarah Ellwood said the launch of the new section of the path would be from 2pm to 4pm and she hoped as many people as possible would attend.
“To help us celebrate, Minehead Eye will be putting on some free fun activities for children. Country Girl will be selling tea, coffee, cake and hot food and Styles Ice Cream will be there with their ice cream bike.”
Sarah hoped to see many turn up on the path behind Washford station: “Bring bikes, skateboards, scooters and skates!”
