IT'S time to pull on your running shoes and start getting fit for Minehead Running Club's annual multi-terrain race the Exmoor Stagger, which this year will be held on Sunday, October 27.

It will start from the West Somerset Community College at 11 a.m. and the course will take in Dunkery Beacon and Webbers Post via Wootton Courtenay and Grabbist Hill.

At 14 miles long, with 2,000 feet of climbing, the challenging run offers views of the countryside which will take your breath away — if you have any left.

If the main race is too intimidating, the Exmoor Stumble is a shorter alternative, being 5.5 miles long and following the first and last stages of the Stagger.

The first half is tough, but then it's downhill all the way to the finish, and any reasonably fit person should be able to complete the run without undue stress.

Entry forms are available from the Race Secretary, 28 Widgeon Close, Minehead TA24 6UH (send a large SAE please), and also Tony Pryce Sports, Minehead Sports, Aquasplash and Minehead Radio. You can also enter on the day.
