WEST Somerset College student Isaac Cadman has been getting hands-on in the lambing sheds - welcoming a healthy set of Swaledale quads into the world.

As part of his agricultural apprenticeship studies, Isaac has been helping with lambing duties at Hindon Organic Farm near Minehead.

And with the spring sunshine came the arrival of the four lambs - an unusually high number for a Swaledale, a native breed sheep which originally hails from the Yorkshire Dales.

Hindon's Penny Webber said Isaac had proved to be an enthusiastic member of the farm team.

"He has been an apprentice with us for nearly a year and is learning all aspects of agricultural work but loves shepherd work and is now very capable of doing a night's lambing," she said.

"Overseeing 400 ewes can get rather busy but it is very satisfying when the ewes and lambs go out in the fields to enjoy the grass and sunshine."
