SIR — I am concerned at the inertia of Somerset County Council to do anything about road safety. I sent a letter to Cllr Hugh Davies airing my concerns (and my neighbours who had all previously raised the matter), and despite his best interest the matter was taken out of his hands. I was writing about the speed of traffic approaching the Monksilver cross roads and subsequent blind spots. I was informed by the council that there was nothing that could be done as the speed limit (even on rural unnumbered roads) was 60mph. Since writing the letter a couple of weeks ago, there has been another collision. I am concerned that before long someone will be killed or seriously injured. Alex Moran, Faircross.
