The Board of Minehead Business Improvement District (BID) has appointed a new social media team to help promote the town and support its businesses.

Somerset-based Morledge & Co has begun work on managing the Visit Minehead channels across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Karen Morledge, a marketing and PR professional with experience of working with other BIDs, took up the post with support from her colleague Sarah Hannah.

“I’m thrilled to be working with Minehead BID and helping to share all that Minehead has to offer for residents and visitors,” she said.

“I’m already a fan of Minehead, but I’m really looking forward to getting to know more of the businesses and supporting them with everything during the build-up to Christmas.”

Andrew Hopkins, Minehead BID manager, said: “Morledge & Co have literally hit the ground running and are already proving fantastic to work with.

“I’m looking forward to seeing their creative campaigns to support all that we do as a BID in terms of marketing and promotion.”

The appointment of this contract comes at a crucial time for Minehead, with a number of events and activities taking place to showcase all that the town has to offer during the festive season.

BID chairman Graham Sizer said: “Whilst I may be a more traditional shopper and certainly no expert when it comes to social media, Morledge & Co came highly recommended and we very much hope the businesses and town will benefit from their digital marketing know-how.”
