A CONCERT and flower festival will launch a five-year project to resurrect the ancient use of All Saints Church, Selworthy, as a centre for local people.

The flower festival, with ‘A Good Read’ as its theme, runs from tomorrow (Friday) to Bank Holiday Monday, August 28.

Open daily from 10am to 5pm, the festival offers refreshments and a white elephant stall.

Sunday Service will be at 11am and there will be a concert on Bank Holiday Monday at 3pm preceded by a peal of the bells.

The concert will begin with classical organ and chorister pieces followed by a medley of music. The finale will be a rousing hymn for all to join in the celebration of the painting of the south side of the white church.

The five-year project aims to make the building user-friendly and welcoming for hosting concerts and events.

It will achieve this by providing access for less able people, kitchen and toilet facilities, improvements to lighting and the organ loft, and moving some pews to create community space.

Donations to help the development scheme will be appreciated and it is hoped visitors will enjoy the flowers and music.
