I would be very grateful if I could convey my gratitude to those who worked to clear the roads and keep them open during the recent spell of bad weather. It’s very easy to forget selfless acts during those times!
My neighbour was taken quite ill on Friday and we were blocked in by a large drift of snow.
A young farmer in Skilgate blew the snow drift away 15 minutes after my call and I was able to take my neighbour to Bampton surgery along the B3190 Haddon Hill to Bampton.
Three tractors were working hard to re-open or keep the road open on that stretch, which meant I was able to squeeze through the drifts.
An hour later those three tractors were still clearing after 6pm so that I could return home safely.
Thank you for your dedication.
Philip Beauvais, Skilgate.
