DESIGN ideas for Minehead’s eastern esplanade improvements went on view this week – and people are being asked what they think of them.
Minehead’s Coastal Communities Team (MCCT) wants to gauge opinion on the emerging themes and concepts which have emerged since earlier consultations with interest groups, businesses and individuals in the spring.
The MCCT has a budget of £320,000 to give a facelift to the area stretching from the Seaward Way roundabout along Warren Road to its junction with the Esplanade.
The initiative aims to change the perception of the town through a physical re-development of the area involving new landscaping and developing concepts to attract people using the themes of light and play.

An initial consultation was held in early April and feedback has helped shape the latest stage of consultation, which will run until June 17 at Minehead’s Tourist Information Centre during its opening hours - Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm.
MCCT chairman Katrina Midgley said: “We are seeing the project, that started some two years ago, finally start to become a reality.
“The public response to the recent consultation has not only helped to formulate the current proposals, but has also given us some great ideas for future phases. I hope more people will now share their thoughts and ideas.”
Cllr Andrew Hadley, whose West Somerset Council portfolio includes economic regeneration and tourism, said: “We really do value people’s ideas and comments. I hope they will take the time to visit and to provide more feedback.”
The £320,000 budget comes from the Hinkley Point C Community Impact Mitigation (CIM) Fund.
