OLD Cleeve is continuing its tradition by turning into a scarecrow village for the popular open gardens event on Monday (May 28).
Eight gardens will be open but visitors can also enjoy spotting the scarecrows as they walk round the village.
Organiser Judi Stabb said: “There is something to interest everyone, including a Mediterranean style garden, traditional cottage styles, and a walled garden.
“Our annual scarecrow display adds some fun, and children can bring their teddies to parachute from the church tower, which is always exciting.”
There will be homemade refreshments, and preserves, plant and book stalls and, for the first time this year, a number of craft stalls: “We hope to encourage visitors to spend the day with us,” said Judi.
As well as the gardens, community orchard and the ancient church, visitors can view the refurbished Lysaght Club and its 1920s’ snooker room.
The gardens are open from 11am to 5pm on bank holiday Monday and entry is £5, free for accompanied children. All money raised go to St Andrew’s Church.
