PORLOCK was awash with red-suited scarecrows when the village staged its second Santa Weekend.

The event, which became an annual fixture following its successful launch last year, is aimed at getting the festive spirit flowing.

A total of 27 Santas could be found dotted around the village last Saturday and Sunday - often in some unlikely places.

A Santa suited cuddly toy, a bike-riding Santa and even one the worse for wear after a few many Christmas tipples were among this year's line-up.

"It was a lot of fun and provided plenty of laughs," said a spokesman for the organisers.

"The event brings people into the village, which can only be good."

Special Santa trail leaflets were available and youngsters were able to meet a live Father Christmas who set up his grotto in St Dubricius Church.

The weekend also included a free festive puppet show.

Porlock will hold its Christmas late-night shopping event next Saturday (December 13).
