Wimbleball Sailing Club, based at Wimbleball Lake on Exmoor, is once again open to members and anyone interested in becoming a member.
The club is currently open on Sundays for recreational sailing and racing, and will expand opening to Saturdays from May 1 for additional recreational sailing.
Members have the opportunity to sail, canoe and – new for this season – paddle board, all under the watchful eyes of experienced duty teams with safety boats to make sure help is at hand as needed. Berthing spaces are available for people’s own dinghies and club boats, and canoes are available to hire for club members.
The club runs Royal Yachting Association-approved training courses for adults looking to learn the sport plus specific courses during the summer season for children through Osprey training weeks. All details can be found on the club’s website, @ www.

The club is also a Sailability activity centre offering those with disabilities the opportunity to get on the water in group yachts and powerboats, plus individual dinghies and trimarans. The powerboats are wheelchair-friendly and hoists are on hand to help people get in and out of boats.
It is expected that this year’s Sailability activities will start in mid-May on Wednesdays and Fridays through the summer season.
A spokesman for the club said: “Whatever your sailing capabilities, whether they be experienced or aspirational, why not pop up to the club and have a chat with existing members to find out more. The club opens its gates at 10am and closes at 4pm on open days, and you will be more than welcome.”
