It is hoped that a 50/50 auction will raise a total of at least £2,000 on Saturday May 18th at Ivel Barbarians Rugby Club, Yeovil.

The event is organised by the Rotary Club of Yeovil in aid of Yeovil Hospice Appeal and Hope and Homes for Children.

Organisers are asking people to seek out items they think could be of interest to buyers attending the auction. Organisers are happy to consider items such as antique furniture, electrical goods, paintings, jewellery, toys and memorabilia.

Half of the money raised will be donated to the chosen charities while the other half goes to the vendor.

Professional auctioneer Tim Edmunds will be conducting the sale. Rotarian Alan Edwards, the principal organiser, said: "We hope that people in the area will take advantage of this opportunity, not only to make some money for themselves but to help in the raising of funds for worthy local and international causes."

Anything wishing to enter items into the auction should call Mr Edwards on 01935 850086 or Simon Slade on 01935 424873.

Selected items will be collected shortly before the auction, and displayed prior to sale at the rugby club.

u The two charities received £1,000 each from the Rotary Club of Yeovil this week during a ceremony at Yeovil Court Hotel on Tuesday. The money had been raised during the club's vehicle tour last year.
