A MUSICAL medley played by West Somerset Brass set the scene for Roadwater Fete, which was bathed in beautiful weather throughout the afternoon and for the evening event at the Valiant Soldier on Saturday, July 27.
And the popular traditional event raised a profit of £5972 after expenses including the cost of new tents.
Among the many attractions were pigmy goats, skittles, coconut shy, greasy pole, Punch and Judy, storytelling, children’s games and a duck race.
Interest in the fire engine and crew from Williton Fire Station was already high but it rose quite dramatically when there was a ‘shout’ part-way through the afternoon!

Children derived great enjoyment from the Rec’s play equipment, and the Tea Room team provided an array of cakes and savouries which, along with the bar, barbecue and ice creams, did a roaring trade.
The plant stall was laden with flowers, vegetables and greenery. Produce show items went under the hammer in the hand of guest auctioneer Ben Lintott.
Money raised at the fete will help in the running of the hall and recreation ground and support more improvements and purchase of equipment.
Produce show results in tomorrow’s Free Press.
