A MOTORCYCLIST is in a critical condition (Thursday) after being trapped under a car on the A39 at Allerford on Sunday afternoon.

He was airlifted to Bristol with life-threatening injuries.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue teams from Minehead and Porlock arrived on the scene shortly after 1pm to attend to the collision involving the motorcyclist and a car.

A spokesman said: “The motorcyclist was trapped under the car and we assisted paramedics in treating him and two other causalities. The car occupants were suffering from shock and given oxygen therapy.”

The rider was airlifted to Bristol’s Southmead Hospital by a Great Western air ambulance helicopter, also based in the city, after a critical-care doctor had given pre-hospital blood transfusions.

Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information should ring 101 quoting incident log 607 for Sunday July 24.
