A FUNDRAISER and cycle ride was organised at Williton Bowling Club on Sunday in aid of brave Andrew Sully.
Two years ago, Andrew was at work and disastrously fell four storeys through a skylight, landing on his head directly on to concrete. Andrew sustained life changing injuries, breaking his third and fourth vertebrae, totally paralysing him from the neck down.
Doctors told Andrew that he would only have a five per cent chance of recovering use of his body – from the neck down. He was also resuscitated a few times while in hospital. But, due to Andrew’s grit and determination, and the amazing doctors and physios, he has gone beyond the doctors’ expectations.
The cycle fundraising was organised by Richard Doughty, who got the idea after he won a bowling competition two years ago.
In the car after the bowling event, he came up with the idea for a cycling fundraiser. Richard cycled from Great Yarmouth, finishing at the Williton club, covering 312 miles over four days.
He had sponsors from Gillards World Wide Distibution Centre in Templecloud, and his son, Tim, drove the back-up car.
The sausages and burgers for the barbecue were supplied free of charge by Farmhouse Kitchens in Williton, and Glenmore Bakery supplied all the rolls and baps at a reduced price.
Richard raised £1,100 which he presented to Andrew at the barbecue which also raised £350. For more information or to make a donation go to Gofundme Andrew Sully Charity, on Facebook.
