A COUPLE who celebrated their 50th anniversary this year were amazed to see their wedding picture in the Free Press two weeks ago after someone found their old photographs on the ground at Minehead station car park.
Ann and Derek Carter, of Tregonwell Road, Minehead, were not aware they had even lost the four photographs until Ann spotted the picture and small article asking if anyone knew who the owner was.
The photographs had been found and handed in to the Free Press by Mr J Cox, who lives in Glenmore Road.
Ann and Derek had had the photographs blown up for their golden wedding celebrations and Derek took the large ones in a folder to show some friends at the West Somerset Railway, where he volunteers in the workshops.
“We were talking about weddings and I took them to show the lads. I didn’t even realise the small ones were in there,” he said.
“I’ve been in trouble ever since!”
The couple, both from Taunton originally, lived away from the area for Derek’s work as a mechanical engineer.
“We always promised to come home and we’ve been back in West Somerset now for seven years,” said Ann.
Now they are planning to thank Mr Cox personally for his kindness in restoring their photographs to them.
