Mr Stephens was on daily duty outside the village's Co-op supermarket, selling poppies as well as meeting old friends and making new acquaintances.
But he did take a brief break last Friday morning - to attend an Armistice Day wreath-laying ceremony at Williton's war memorial, where he is pictured.
