THE congregation of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Minehead is singing thanks and praise for the new enriched sound of its organ.
Parishioners have been raising funds over the past 18 months or so to refurbish the organ and a service of rededication was held on Sunday afternoon (October 22).
Richard Jeffrey-Grey, director of music for the Clifton Diocese, gave a short recital during the service, showing what the organ is now capable of.
Hymns were played by Lance Foy, of Truro, who with his wife Julie and son Christopher were responsible for the overhaul and enhancement of the instrument.
The organ was installed in the church in 1901 by Minns of Taunton and has had very little attention since work carried out by Osmonds of Taunton in the 1950s.
