National Grid so busy that Minehead street lighting repairs have to wait weeksFor the past few months, people in and around Minehead have been making small contributions towards showing support for refugees.
As a county, Somerset has so far settled eight or nine families from Syrian refugee camps as part of the Government resettlement scheme, and Minehead’s support group has been looking into whether the town is somewhere for one or more families to settle, feel welcome and flourish.
As well as the progress report on the group’s findings, possible ways forward will be discussed a tomorrow’s event, which starts at 4pm. Pictures and facts about the whole refugee problem will be on display, as will examples of the best things to donate to RAFT (Refugee Aid to Taunton).
