A RECORD sum of more than £1,500 was raised for church funds by Carhampton Flower Club’s popular flower festival, which attracted a constant stream of visitors to the village’s St John the Baptist Church over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Lucy Parker, one of the organisers, said: “We are delighted to have beaten the previous fund-raising record, set in 2023.

“Visitors were extraordinarily generous and displays were outstanding and imaginative.

“We have had masses of appreciative comments and quite a few visitors said it was the best show we have done.”

Rising to the challenge of a ‘Sing With Flowers’ theme, the 21 exhibitors drew inspiration from everything from wedding music and prayers, to country music, pop songs, and well-loved musical shows.
