IT was another record-breaking year for the Dunster Country Fair last Wednesday after the cancellation of the show last year due to foot and mouth disease.
The crowds turned out in their thousands as Dunster escaped the rain which hit other parts of the country.
The Band of the Hussars and Light Dragoons gave two displays in the main ring, culminating in the finale when show president Commander Jim Collins took the salute flanked by his Royal British Legion standard bearers who dipped their standards for the National Anthem.
All aspects of the show achieved records, from the trade stands and craft tent to the Exmoor Pony Show and the huge Minehead and District Canine Society dog show.

Minehead Tesco customers help charities feed thousands of families over Christmas Helicopter pleasure flights operated all day and the Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance helicopter paid a much appreciated visit to the main ring.
The Village Green provided the usual packed interest for visitors who also enjoyed the flying displays by the Hawkeye falconry team.
The hound and terrier show rings were crowded throughout and the main ring was thronged with children and their parents mingling with the Devon and Somerset Staghounds, West Somerset Foxhounds, Minehead Harriers and Ytene mink hounds.
A musical ride by the Pony Club preceded their games with all the usual thrills and no serious spills.
The organisers thanked the Minehead St John Ambulance who enjoyed a quiet day, the Williton Air Training Corps for their work all day as the ring party and everyone else who helped make the day a success.
