DANESFIELD Middle School's sports day last Friday was a great success, helped by glorious weather.

The field events took place in the morning and competition was tight, with only three points separating the first two houses, Wyndham and St Audries.

The afternoon's track events saw the lead between the two houses continually changing, with Wyndham eventually winning for the third year running. St Audries were second, followed by Trevellyan and Luttrell.

Year Five pupils broke two records, Lydia Rosling taking three seconds off the 800m record and Michelle Holroyd cutting the 75m record. The girls are pictured.

The final relays produced some exciting races with unexpected results in some age groups.

Two new events were included this year, a tug of war with mixed house teams of Year 7 and 8 competing and a non-scoring fun event which saw staff take on pupils from Year 8 house teams in a 10 x 100m relay. The staff surprisingly won the event, which will hopefully become an annual feature.
