A RECLUSE has been found dead in the tent that was his home for at least a decade on North Hill foreshore. The police underwater search unit's boats and Minehead RNLI crew were involved in recovering the body, believed to be that of Norman Anning, aged 71. His tent was pitched near a waterfall just beyond Greenaleigh Point and could only be reached on foot at low tide: "It was a very difficult place for our crime scene investigators to get to. There was a big swell and a lot of rocks to negotiate," said a police spokesman. It is believed that Mr Anning had been dead for some time when he was found by a local man who had become concerned about him. A post mortem was carried out on Wednesday to establish the cause of death, although it is not being treated as suspicious. Police are hoping to trace the next of kin, and say a number of rail tickets to places in Lincolnshire and Hull were found near the body. Anyone with information should contact PC Chris Walls at Minehead police station on 0845 4567000.
