MINEHEAD Twinning Ramblers have just returned from a weekend with their counterparts in Saint Berthevin, Mayenne. A short, afternoon walk along the Mayenne River in glorious sunshine was followed by a buffet and dance on Saturday evening where they were entertained by a Breton folk and dance group. Sunday brought a change in the weather and, after observing the French voting in the European Treaty referendum, they embarked on a morning walk in the north of Mayenne. After pausing for a barbecue lunch, they went to Jublains for a tour of the Roman remains and a presentation by a member of the museum staff. Back in Saint Berthevin for the evening, they ended the trip with dinner with their host families. The twinning ramblers have invited the Saint Berthevin group to Minehead in 2006. Anyone in Minehead who is interested in twinning is being offered a chance to visit Saint Berthevin in November.
