MORE than £570 was raised by a highly-successful charity quiz in a packed Minehead Social Club as part of an appeal for new long-term premises for Minehead Museum.

A capacity audience saw more than 20 teams take part in an evening of quizzing which was won by defending champions the 612s team.

Museum trustees chairman Julian Luke said: "It was great to see so many people supporting the event, following on from our previous sell-out quiz event back in January.”

One of the teams taking part in the quiz told the Free Press: “Just like last time, it was a great evening - the quiz was very well organised and the questions were excellent. Roll on the next quiz.”

The previous day, helpers and stewards met for an end of season social and had a chance to view some of the latest acquisitions, some of which will be on show next season.

It was announced that the museum had received about 10,000 visitors this year and more than 67,000 visitors had viewed the exhibits since the museum first opened.

The hunt for new premises continues with the museum having so far raised more than £187,000 toward its new home.

New stewards and volunteers are always welcome.

More information can be found on the museum website here or by emailing.

The museum will reopen to the public at the end of March, 2024.
