THREE pupils from Danesfield Community School in Williton are appealing for help to trace the relatives of the 36 Williton men who are currently honoured on the village's wooden war memorial plaque. Year 8 pupils Bethany Goodwill, Stephanie Hartgen and Jessica Batts (pictured from left to right) have been chosen to research the backgrounds of villagers who died during the two world wars. Their findings will be used to compile a memorial book which will be published to commemorate the eventual unveiling of the village's first dedicate stone memorial. As previously reported, members of the Williton branch of the Royal British Legion are spearheading an appeal to raise the £2,500 needed to commission a Celtic cross-topped memorial which will bear the names of Williton's war dead. The legion also wants to hear from relatives of people who believe their loved ones names should be added to the memorial and names of those who have died in conflicts since World War Two. Danesfield headteacher Ian Bradbury said: "We were approached by the legion to carry out a research project and I had a number of volunteers come forward. "We have a couple of months to get all the information together but would ask anyone who knows any of the people on the list of the fallen to get in touch with the school either by phone or in writing." The names featured on the current wooden memorial plaque in St Peter's Church are: 1914 -1918 - H Barker, A Branchflower, S S Casson, J Chorley, J Conibeer, H Court, C Dudderidge, H W Eno, S Hunt, J Killick, A G Millard, J Morle, H Peppin, E J Pugsley, N Routley, G Sparks, J Tapp, A Takel, W H Tipper, W L Ward, G Watts, E Yandle and N Yandle. 1939-1945 - C J Bourne, H F Bulpin, W Chilcott, C A Dudderidge, C Hayes, C J Hayes, F Hibberd, R Hutchinson, A E Martin, F N Mitchell, C W Prole, G Vincent and G H Wheeler.
